GOODWRAP RECYCLING MEMBER

Protecting projects.
Reducing waste.

2.04 tonnesof shrink-wrap plastic diverted from landfill

As a participant in the GoodWrap recycling programme, Shield collects used shrink-wrap material from suitable projects and returns it through a dedicated recycling pathway. This helps reduce construction plastic going to landfill and supports more responsible end-of-life management of the materials used to protect buildings and worksites.

GoodWrap reported 2,041 kg of shrink wrap diverted from landfill by Shield between October 2025 and September 2026. We continue to work with GoodWrap to improve material recovery wherever practical.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions.

How long does shrink-wrap installation take?

A typical installation takes approximately 2–4 days in favourable conditions. The timeframe depends on the project’s size, complexity, access and weather.

Can shrink wrap be installed in bad weather?

Installation depends on suitable conditions. Rain, frost, very cold temperatures and excessive wind can prevent work from proceeding. We monitor forecasts and plan around suitable weather windows.

How long does shrink wrap last?

Shrink wrap can remain in place longer than its warranty period, depending on exposure and site conditions. Our standard installation terms provide a three-month warranty for specified material and workmanship defects. Refer to your quotation for full terms.

Can damaged shrink wrap be repaired?

Often, yes. Repairs depend on the nature and extent of the damage. Covered warranty defects are repaired without charge; other repairs may be chargeable under our installation terms.

Do you work outside Canterbury?

Yes. Canterbury is our primary service area, but we can consider projects elsewhere in New Zealand. Travel and mobilisation costs are assessed when quoting.

Do you provide shrink wrapping for asbestos removal projects?

Yes. Shield regularly installs external weatherproof shrink-wrap enclosures for asbestos removal projects in Christchurch and Canterbury. Our wrapping protects the specialist containment enclosure constructed underneath by the asbestos removal contractor, whose system is not designed for exposure to the weather. Shield supplies external weather protection only; we do not install the asbestos containment system or undertake asbestos removal.
